Lane Assist and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) systems are key advancements in automotive safety, offering crucial support to drivers by preventing accidents and enhancing overall driving comfort. These technologies, both of which fall under the broader category of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), provide real-time warnings and corrective actions to help drivers navigate more safely and efficiently on the road. Lane Assist, also referred to as Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), is a safety system designed to monitor the vehicle’s position on the road and provide warnings or corrective steering if the car begins to drift out of its lane unintentionally. Lane Assist is generally paired with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), which alerts the driver when the vehicle is veering out of its lane without the use of turn signals.

There are typically two key functions of Lane Assist:

  1. Lane Departure Warning (LDW): Alerts the driver with visual, audible, or haptic signals (e.g., steering wheel vibration) if the vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane.
  2. Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): Actively steers the vehicle back into its lane if it detects unintentional drifting.

Lane Assist reduces the mental load by gently steering the car back into the lane, helping reduce fatigue and promoting better focus on the road.
